Contractors completed our extension on 13 May 2024, on time and within budget. Following some targeted fundraising we have received additional grants which have enabled us to fully equip the new meeting rooms. The Small Hall is fitted with audio-visual equipment, including a ceiling mounted projector, screen, speakers, mood lighting and hearing loop. The Churchouse Room can accommodate up to 12 people seated around a central table and this room has a large wall mounted television which can be used with a laptop for presentations or video conferencing.
Hirers have already begun to use the new spaces and reported how much they have enjoyed doing so.
We thank our many supporters and those who provided grants for this work: the National Lottery Community Fund; Castle Cary Town Council; Ansford Parish Council; the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fund 2022 (DEFRA); Somerset Council; Bernard Sunley Foundation; Garfield Weston Foundation; Ninesquare Trust; Mackintosh Foundation; Persimmon Homes Community Champions Fund; Battens Foundation; Leonard Laity Stoate Charitable Trust; Orrin Trust; Elmgrant Trust; Castle Cary Carnival Club.
On Saturday 20 July we will hold a Grand Open Day at the Hall. Visitors will be able to see what has been added and discover the wide range of activities currently taking place there. They will also see the new opportunities which a larger and more versatile building provides to the town.
Do you run a group which could use the new facilities or want to start one up? If you are interested, do not delay: get in touch because sessions for the rest of the year are already being booked up.
