The following activities are organised by our regular hirers. Please contact them for further information.


Camelot Area u3a

The u3a use Caryford Community Hall for a number of activities including Art Classes, Recorder, Mah-Jong, & Play Reading.

On the last Friday of the month we hold an open meeting at the Hall where members and guests are treated to refreshments and a chance to exchange ideas. Our meetings are accompanied by guest speakers who entertain everyone with informative and often humorous talks on a variety of topics. Everyone is welcome.

u3a Recorders

The u3a Recorder Group meets every Monday afternoon in the Small Hall at Caryford Hall. We are a varied group in expertise and also in the instruments we play. We enjoy playing all kinds of music from the 15th to 20th centuries.

u3a Tuesday Art Group

The Tuesday u3a Art Group meets every Tuesday with the exception of the Third Tuesday of the month from 10am to 12am.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a gentle exercise suitable for most people. Can be done seated. No previous experience necessary.

Yoga for Beginners and Improvers

Please join us for an hour of stretching and strengthening the body, relaxing and calming the mind and learning how to breathe better. This is an informal class open to everyone whether you have done yoga before or not. You will always be encouraged to work at your own pace although options are given for those looking for more of a challenge.

Short Mat Bowls

We invite you to join us for a friendly game of indoor bowls. We will help you to learn and lend you bowls; just bring a pair of flat shoes. Your first two sessions are free.

Castle Cary Gardening Association

A club of friendly gardeners with a variety of levels of expertise and enthusiasm. We have a gardening related talk from a guest speaker for around an hour starting with refreshments.

Castle Cary Bridge Club

Castle Cary Bridge Club is a friendly local bridge club, welcoming bridge players of all standards. We have a hosts scheme in place, so even if you do not have a
partner, you can always turn up and be guaranteed a game.

Castle Cary Cygnets Majorettes

The Castle Cary Cygnets Majorettes are a fun and friendly team of dancers, who perform displays at various events and carnival parades. Girls aged 6-21yrs utilise technical dance, baton twirling, pompom, and flag skills, enhancing teamwork and individual self-confidence, boosting physical and mental health.

The Arts Society Mid Somerset

The Arts Society Mid Somerset is a member of The Arts Society (www.theartssociety.org) formed in 1968. Lectures are given by professional speakers on the third Tuesday of the month (except for August and September).
